K. Nofal's Gingerbread House

01 Dec 2017

Christmas Reflections of Downtown Jax

This is the first year K. Nofal participated in the Jacksonville Historical Society's Gingerbread House Extravaganza. The fundraiser is an exciting way to showcase art, baking, architecture, and preservation of Jacksonville's architecture buildings. All proceeds benefit the Jax History Society.

K. Nofal's Gingerbread House design might look familiar to Florida locals. The creation was inspired by the iconic Wells Fargo Center skyscraper, located along the corner of Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville. A Christmas tree reflection decorates the front facade of the Gingerbread skyscraper. Cars, a multitude of Christmas trees and spaghetti streets complete the city block.

Design Process:

K. Nofal 3D modeled the building using Rhino, scaled the tower, and 3d printed templates for mold making. Fondant, chocolate, icing, and sprinkles were some of the many materials used to construct the architectural design.

Where to Visit:

Visit the Gingerbread village at the historic Old St. Andrews Church until the 23rd of December. Other event photos are found on the Jacksonville Times Union website.
